This November, Massachusetts voters will face nine statewide ballot questions that will shape how we elect our leaders, how government spends our money, and whether we protect fundamental rights. Letters to the editor remain one of the most effective ways ordinary citizens can reach their neighbors, inform undecided voters, and show that real people care about these issues. Quick tips: Always include your full name, town, and phone number (many papers require this for verification and won’t publish without it). Vote by Mail for the September 1 Primary Applications for Vote by Mail have been sent out. Please contact the Hingham Town Clerk's Office if you have not received an application or apply at https://www.sec.state.ma.us/MailInRequestWeb/MailInBallot.aspx. Applications should be returned ASAP and must be received no later than August 25 at 5:00 PM. Note, the USPS recommends allowing for 7 delivery days. Ballot Colors New Primary Ballot Colors starting with the September 1 Primary G.L. c. 53 § 33 requires that primary ballots for each party be of different colors. Effective this year, the color of ballots shall be: Official Democratic Primary Ballot – Blue Official Democratic Early/Absentee Primary Ballot – Light Blue Official Republican Primary Ballot – Pink Official Republican Early/Absentee Primary Ballot – Salmon Official State Election Ballot – White Official Early/Absentee State Election Ballot – Yellow This change reflects voters’ expectations and will help to reduce confusion when ballots are provided to voters.
